Bennett’s primary interests within thoracic radiology include trauma and aortography. These areas are particularly rewarding when one is able to establish effective communication with the clinical team and are able to assist them in their decision process. She enjoys chest radiology in the emergency room setting for similar reasons.
Bennett also enjoys the post surgical chest, learning about various surgical techniques and deciphering post surgical anatomy. While these areas are of particular interest, she enjoys learning more about all aspects of thoracic imaging.

Cockrell graduated from the University of Richmond and the VCU Medical Center and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the VCU Medical Center. He returned to the VCU Department of Radiology in 2006 after 20 years in private practice as a general diagnostic and interventional radiologist. He serves as the Emergency Radiology chief. Cockrell also participates in the weekly multispecialty Chest Tumor Conference at the Massey Cancer Center and helps train diagnostic radiology residents in thoracic percutaneous biopsy techniques and pleural drainage procedures.

Halvorsen’s fellowship was in abdominal imaging at Duke University, but he has been interested in chest radiology throughout his career. He was a co-author on the first paper using CT for the evaluation of emphysema and has had a long interest in the staging of the esophageal cancer using CT and MR. Halvorsen has published 135 papers in peer review journals as wells as 32 book chapters.
After Duke University, Halvorsen was Chief of CT at the University of Minnesota and served as Chief of Radiology at San Francisco General Hospital, part of the University of California San Francisco for 10 years. He joined the VCU Medical Center in 2002.
His current grant funding includes Evaluation of PET Scanning in Non Small Cell Lung Carcinoma Patients.
